Avus 1937

1936 the Avus north curve was turned into a steeply banked turn (43°) made of bricks nicknamed „The Wall of Death". It had no retaining barrier and cars that missed the turn easily flew off it. The Silver Arrows of Mercedes-Benz and Auto Union raced in 1937 on the banked version. The race did not count for the championship what allowed the use of streamlined non-GP cars.
